Branding in the Screen Industries

One of the recurring themes of the three Design Labs that WMSB has run over the past two years has been the importance of our regional story. Who are we, what do we stand for and how is this reflected in the way in which we talk about ourselves? These questions are simply a reflection of the broader recurring question of what is our regional brand?

WMSB commissioned Dr. Finola Kerrigan and Katharine Stolley, both from Birmingham Business School at the University of Birmingham, to undertake research on the development of regional screen brands and the linked topic of place branding through screen and to produce a report identifying key examples of successful development of regional screen brands and place brands through the use of screen industries.

This report was a key element in developing the WMSB cluster development plan.
